Peter Huntsman

Peter is a Registered Patent Attorney (AU & NZ) and the Director of Patents & Designs at Marquette IP.

Peter specialises in identifying, defining and specifying the inventive aspects of mechanical and chemical related inventions, including relevantly in the plastics and environmentally progressive applications sector. Peter also concurrently oversees and manages Marquette IP’s foreign patent prosecution practice, as well as regularly contributes to IP Audits and IP Progression Strategies for businesses seeking to further leverage and commercialise their IP and Patent Rights for commercial benefit.

Peter drafts, files and prosecutes patent applications in engineering and chemical related disciplines. Peter also oversees foreign filing programmes in relation to the protection of such subject matter. He also prepares and prosecutes design applications and provides advice in relation to all aspects of registered designs. Moreover, validity, infringement and freedom to operate advice in relation to such IP rights.

Having been a partner at one of Australia’s top-tier IP firms for over 30 years, Peter brings a wealth of knowledge in all aspects of the patenting process and combines his technical knowledge on patent and designs matters with an established commercial acumen and sound industry awareness.

Having contributed heavily to the IP industry over the years, Peter is also a President of Honour of the International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys (FICPI).

Peter is an also a Fellow of the Institute of Patent & Trade Marks Attorneys (IPTA) in Australia and New Zealand and member of the Intellectual Property Society of Australia & New Zealand (IPSANZ).
